We are excited to provide ongoing access to the genetic counselling short course after two successful runs in 2023.
This short course offers 1-day face to face workshop and online self-paced learning covering skills, understanding and experience in the genomic consent process, and returning complex reports to clinicians and families while addressing genetic counselling implications with cognisance of the ethical, social and legal issues.
By joining this short course, you will learn how to apply practical tools and techniques that support the implementation of the evidence-based research underpinning genetic counselling. Particularly, you will learn how to implement the following subjects for better patient care and health outcomes:
- Principles of genomic/genetic counselling
- Family history taking and socio-cultural issues (addressing clinical and psychosocial needs)
- Informed consent and ethical issues including privacy (addressing informational and psychosocial needs)
- Delivering client centred genetic counselling for genomic testing within different contexts.
