The course overview

This course is one of a series of the Future of Work in Healthcare short courses designed for medical and healthcare practitioners, research and IT professionals, managers and leaders who aim to deliver value to their projects within healthcare.

The course offers practical tools, techniques and methods for managing clinical and non-clinical projects. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge in agile and traditional (waterfall) project management within healthcare. Through the progression of this course, you will reflect on the implications of the future of health as you manage and lead projects in the 21st century.

At the end of the course, you will be prepared to think outside the box about project management and how it can be adopted as one of the management tools to engage, influence, solve problems and lead others toward new ways of working and change. 1:1 coaching is included in this short course. A/Prof Huong Le-Dao | UNSW Medicine & Health

Associate Professor Huong Le-Dao contributes to teaching, education and research in value-based healthcare, health management and leadership within UNSW Medicine & Health. She specialises in strategy, policy and change with a strong focus on project and change management, organisational effectiveness, and leadership development.

As Director Short Courses within UNSW Medicine & Health, Huong leads our short courses, micro-nano credentials, and bespoke programs for health organisations to equip health professionals (clinicians and non-clinicians) with the needed capabilities and skills to boost their impact in health. Huong's work in credential education and training is shaping the health care system for the 21st century. She is passionate about better human experience and value in healthcare.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Scope and plan a project within the context of the future of health and the future work in healthcare.
  • Lead an effective project team for high performance 
  • Engage with stakeholders, create a project governance structure, and manage risks for monitoring, managing and reporting a project.
  • Develop a criteria for closing a project within timeframe and budget, and in line with expectations.

What are the course credentials?

   

This course is worth 3 UNSW Medicine & Health Executive Certificate in Health (FMECH) points, which provides formal recognition of professional development and reflects 30 hours of learning inclusive of pre-work, course participation, learning materials and support.

Upon successful course completion, you will be issued with a UNSW Medicine & Health verifiable credential. The credential is valid for 3 years and can be counted towards your continuing professional development (CPD). Please check with your college as the credential provides documentary evidence which substantiate activities claimed under your college program.

Can I use my credit towards further study?

You can partake another short course with FMECH points to achieve a total 150 hours of learning. Once you have achieved a total of 15 points, reflecting 150 hours of learning, you can use the 15 points to apply for recognition of prior learning for 6 units of credits (UOC) towards a postgraduate program within UNSW Medicine & Health. It is essential to complete and submit the course assessment on or before the final day of the course if you wish to apply to use the points towards CPD and/or credit for a UNSW postgraduate program in the future.
